This site reviews real-money gaming platforms, so it is only fair to be clear about the risk. These games cost money to play, and over time most players lose more than they win. If that is not acceptable to you, the right amount to stake is nothing.

Four rules that work

  1. Money: fix a weekly amount you can lose without it mattering, and never top it up.
  2. Time: set a timer before you open the app, and stop when it rings.
  3. Mood: do not play to cheer yourself up, to win back a loss, or after drinking.
  4. Honesty: if you would not tell your family how much you play, you are playing too much.

Things that are not reasons to play more

  • A bonus that needs a bigger deposit.
  • A VIP level that is “nearly” reached.
  • A place on a race leaderboard.
  • A “sure” tip, signal or predictor.

Signs that it has stopped being fun

  • You think about playing when you are doing other things.
  • You have borrowed, or delayed a bill, to deposit.
  • You stake more than before to get the same excitement.
  • You have tried to cut down and could not.

If you need help

Tell someone close to you. Take the apps off your phone and remove saved payment methods. In India, the Government’s free Tele-MANAS mental-health helpline is available day and night on 14416. You can also ask a platform’s support team to restrict or close your account.

Age and the law

You must be 18 or over. The rules on real-money gaming vary between Indian states and have been changing; it is your responsibility to know whether it is permitted where you live.
